The FAQs

  1. Where is the class? The lectures and the recitations will be in XXX of the Skiles Building.
  2. Are calculators allowed in the tests? Yes.
  3. What about the grading system? The exact numerical formula is in the syllabus.
  4. What happens if I miss a test? The grading formula uses a drop and "vector grading" to cope with personal events such as illness or family emergencies. If you will miss a test due to participating in a sports competition or similar travel on behalf of Georgia Tech, you have the choice of negotiating an early test by notifying the professor at least two weeks in advance or treating it as a personal event.
  5. Did you get my mail? I try to send at least a brief acknowledgment to my students' mail, so if you got no reply, you may wish to try again or talk to me in person. Make sure the subject line is something like "Math 2401" and not "hey," because otherwise your message may be treated like spam.
  6. What if I have a conflict with the final exam? Please tell me as soon as possible about conflicts (with full, precise details about the class or classes with which we have a conflict), graduating status, etc. I need this information by e-mail or in writing two weeks in advance .
